WHY SEPTEMBER IS A GREAT TIME TO REVISIT YOUR GOALS
Updated: Dec 10, 2019

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." ― Maria Robinson
Time flies fast, and we only have a few months left until the end of 2019. How has your year been so far? Have you checked in with yourself lately, and are you taking steps towards the intentions you set at the beginning of the year?
I chose the word "Allow" to guide my 2019 (you can read my full blog post here). This year hasn't been perfect, and I am still going through the process of allowing health, love, happiness, joy, and even failure and sadness into my life. Following my guiding word enabled me to let go of the reins and simply trust that everything will fall into place. It's been a great reminder, and besides trust, I've had to really embrace surrender. My new favorite practice (it's a love-hate relationship😝)!
What If You Haven't Started Yet?
It might feel like it's already too late in the year to make things happen or start that project you've been dreaming of for so long. The truth is - September is an excellent time to realign yourself and to take those steps! School is back in session, autumn is arriving, and it's the perfect time to set yourself up with a plan to end the year strong, and you set yourself up for a solid start to 2020.
If you did my Choose Your Word Course at the end of 2018, you probably chose a word to guide you through this year. Even if you didn't, I'm sure you had some ideas of where you wanted this year to go. Either way - dig up your intentions and reassess. Are they still relevant? If you said yes - did you take action? If not, do some reflecting on what held you back from making progress.
It's important to know what's holding you back. Take the time to name the habits that are getting in your way. Recognizing these pesky patterns is the first step to getting everything in order! Once you identify the habits that are keeping you paralyzed, you can create a plan to develop new ways of thinking and being!
I'll talk more about habits and rituals in an upcoming blog. For now, know it's never too late to reach for your dreams.
What If I Need Help?
You're not alone! Life happens, and you have to remember that you have the power to live a more meaningful and purposeful life. I'm all about tools, so I have a little gift for you. It's a Journaling for Clarity Worksheet to help you get clear again (and it's free, y'all!). Download the worksheets here. Answer the questions to know what your vision is at this point in the year and what you need to do to achieve it. Try writing down the next tiny step you need to take to reach that goal and do that one action today. Once that's ticked off, take the next small step, and soon you won't just be thinking about your goal, you'll be working toward achieving it!
What If You're Not Connecting To Your Goals?
And if your guiding word or new year's intentions are no longer speaking to you, consider setting a new goal that you can reasonably achieve between now and December 31st. Downloading the journaling prompts can help you with this! Your new goal could be as simple as drinking more water each day. Seriously - it's that easy. And you can progress from there.

Things To Remember When You're Getting Back On Track
Get clear on your vision.
Set goals that excite you.
Define your 'why.'
Be specific about what it is you want and break it down into bite sized pieces.
Create an action plan and stick with it!
Share your dreams and goals with the people around you.
The struggle is part of the journey. Don't let it hold you back from moving forward.
Celebrate your progress. Ditch perfection.
Set a deadline.
Enjoy the process!
